merge from Plessy
revert previous change:
- there are substantive changes to the spec here that are not the subject of
consensus within the driver team and have not been subjected to prior
public scrutiny. Not gonna happen.
- the merge appears to have been done by hand instead of in a manner that would
permit reverting individual revisions from bzr, so it all goes for now,
including the changes that are a matter of consensus.
Transferred the changes from bzr to svn.

Replaced “Maintainer” by “Contact”.

To avoid confusion between the upstream maintainer and the maintainer
of the Debian package. It also solves the cosmetic issue that if there
are more than one upstream maintainers, the “Maintainer” keyword would
stay singular.

clarify dpkg changes needed in Squeeze
escape wildcard
use code blocks for examples.
Fold in the results of the discussions so far on -devel.
* DEP-4 : Tweak some of the links to become active.
* Update the URL for DEP-4
restore the requirement that Name, Maintainer, Source, Disclaimer fields occur
only once; drop the 'Suggested name' for Disclaimer, this simply repeats the
section header
restore the Format-Specification field, pending more public discussion
revert unbranding. DEP == Debian Enhancement Proposal; upstreamage should come
later, as part of public discussion.
merge the out-of-sync changes from svn back into bzr
Unbranding.
Slimming down…
- Suppression of the 'Format' field.
- The 'Copyright' field is free form, and the copyright symbol was removed
from the examples.
- Licence "keywords" are renamed "short names".
- Exemption are signalled in english, not with a "BY" syntax.
- I simplified the table of licences. I can add URLs back later when it is
time for polishing.
- BSD licenses are referred by their name. The "original BSD" issue is not
a problem since the relicensing has retro-active effect. I think that we
can use the same keyword for the 4- and 3- clause version.
- All of this was the kiss of death for the EBNF, so I removed it, and
the recommendations for clear copyrighting as well.
Replaced pipes and commas by `or`s and `and`s.
Added Simon as a driver.
Sync. with SVN version 37.
Spellchecked.
Sync with bzr repository rev. 18, probably not using it anymore.

update style.css
This seems to have been copied in unmodified from an old version of
ikiwiki, and was missing styling for recentchanges.
copy in ikiwiki's recentchanges page
Since this site apparently uses ikiwiki w/o the regular basewiki underlay,
but has recentchanges enabled, each page sports a broken RecentChange link
at the top. To fix, just include a copy of the standard recentchanges page.
Your friendly ikiwiki drive-by maintainer. :-)
Added Noah Slater as DEP driver.
Simplified layout, proposed that extra fields have the X- prefix, and proposed a X-Autobuild field for non-free packages.
Added a rationale proposed in a private email by Lars.
restore the RFC2822 requirement. Specifying the file format is a central part
of establishing machine parseability, and this is one of the few aspects of
the latest revision of the wiki spec that was *not* in contention
revert claim that this will be discussed on debian-legal. debian-legal is not
an appropriate forum for specifications of file formats.
Work in progress: please treat this document as an unpublished draft.
Major changes:
- Made the `Copyright` field optional (leaving the requirement to the Policy)
- Deleted the requirement for RFC-822 format, to leave the possibility to
decide an implementation in another format.
- Suppressed the License-Alias field. I think that parsers should rather
be instructed that Perl means Artistic | GPL-1+
- Moved the EBNF grammar for license names in an appendix. I propose that we
chose aliases that respect the grammar, but without making the grammar part
of the proposal.
Minor changes:
- Call to discuss on debian-legal: debian-devel is crowded.
- Deleted the requirement for UTF-8 (already current Policy).
- Simplified the field names, so that they also make sense if the copyright
file is provided by Upstream.
- Deleted discussion about bug 491302 (solved).
- Added a default value (*) for the field `Files`.
- Moved all Debian-specific issues to an appendix.
- Made the `Copyright` field contain all statements, instead of being repetable.
- Use '©' instead of 'Copyright' in examples, to enhance readability.
- Default value for the `License` first line: other.
Unresolved issues:
- Should we allow `Name` and `Source` for inner stanzas?
- If yes, do we really need a header ?
- Do we need to specify format, and if yes, how and where ?
- How do we manage plural? For instance, when the field `Maintainer` contains
more than one.
- How do we handle the "BSD" licenses where Berkeley University is not the
copyright holder and the text was slightly changed?
Add a toc using the plugin and tidy up some DEP formatting.
fix the syntax of the toc directive
finish proofreading; trying *oh so hard* not to intermingle substantive changes...
partial proofreading
Add DEP-4 to the index.
Merge from the Bazaar repo changes to DEP-0:
revno: 11

message:
Recommend Expat license. Use it for DEP0.
update the format-specification examples to point at svn.d.o
fix the link syntax in the index to be markdown-compatible
fix the DEP header, which has to be indented to look sane under markdown - not truly RFC822 then :(
initial import of wiki.d.o/Proposals/CopyrightFormat as DEP5
register DEP #5
renaming to dep-4
reformat the SGML for DEP
first part of the file
Add a listing of DEPs. Use the table plugin for this.
Also add two new DEP that I'm working on.
Update from Bazaar.
Talk about !Subversion repositories, now that they are in place.
Clarify that dep is DD-writeable, and create a /playground directory for
people who would rather not mess with ikiwiki.
Provide a howto document.
Add forgotten changelog entry.
Add dep0.mdwn from http://bzr.debian.org/bzr/dep/dep0/trunk.
Limit the width of <body>.
Make the last modified stamp font smaller.
